The mission of the Department of Women’s Health is to improve the health of women through excellence in clinical care, exceptional educational programs, and investigation and discovery. The department seeks to transform health care and redesign the academic health environment.
Mission Points
The Department of Women’s Health collaborates with community partners to provide evidence-based, high quality, patient-centered care across the continuum of women’s health care. The faculty includes specialists in general obstetrics and gynecology, maternal-fetal medicine, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery, gynecologic oncology, reproductive endocrinology and infertility, family planning, and pediatric and adolescent gynecology.
The Department of Women’s Health is home to innovative educational programs in undergraduate medical education, graduate medical education and faculty education.
The Department of Women’s Health research program is devoted to advancing knowledge and accelerating improvements in patient care through the use of data science and clinical and translational research. The department encourages collaborative and interdisciplinary research across The University of Texas at Austin for both faculty and learners.
Graduate Medical Education
The department is home to fellowships in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery, Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery, Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology and the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency.
