Visiting trainees can select electives from  residency and fellowship programs and beyond.

Application Details

Visiting resident rotation requests are processed by the graduate medical education office on a rolling basis. Visiting residents are required to submit applications no less than six months prior to their desired rotation start date.

Rotations are approved based on application materials and program authorization during the visiting resident’s requested dates.

Eligibility requirements include:

  • Current U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or J-1 visa holder currently residing in the United States.
  • Good academic standing with home institution.
  • Able to obtain a Texas Medical Board physician-in-training permit or full license.

Cost

Ascension requires a $250 non-refundable application fee. This fee is paid through a payment portal after preliminary application materials have been received and approved. The application fee is waived for military residents and those from partner programs.

Visiting residents are responsible for all travel, housing and meal costs during their visiting rotation.

Upon preliminary authorization an onboarding checklist is distributed via New Innovations. All checklist onboarding requirements can be found within the visiting resident rotation application.
