A Hub for Solutions That Advance Cancer Research
Embedded within The University of Texas at Austin, a top-tier research institution, the Livestrong Cancer Institutes are positioned to become a renowned center for technologies and models that strengthen the fight against cancer.
To achieve the Cancer Institutes’ goals of improving both access to care and patient quality of life, the institutes’ research program:
Dozens of leading scientists at UT Austin are conducting research in fields such as gene mutation and repair, immunotherapy and functional imaging to facilitate more effective methods of treatment.
By integrating, leveraging and translating UT Austin’s outstanding research outside the traditional cancer-related fields, the institutes provide patients with novel diagnostic methods and therapeutic options.
UT Austin researchers will no longer have to go to outside institutions to test groundbreaking technologies, medications and therapies. Additionally, Austin patients interested in being a part of cutting-edge clinical trials can do so locally.
The Cancer Institutes are committed to exploring new ways to tailor cancer treatments most likely to benefit patients’ individual bodies through genetic and cellular testing and lifestyle analysis.

Reinventing the way cancer patients are treated — and cared for — is about more than a single treatment, a single caregiver or even a single organization. Texas is uniquely poised to tackle the fight against cancer from all angles, as evidenced by the speakers at the Livestrong Cancer Institute’s Biden Cancer Community Summit.
